Olmsted Falls mayor seeks three vehicle requisitions; fire pickup to cost $72,000
Summary
Mayor Chad Gluss outlined three vehicle requisitions for council approval — a $72,000 fire pickup (chassis plus upfitting), a replacement for a 2008 former chief's car, and a city vehicle for official travel — and said the new fire engine has returned but is not yet in service.

Mayor Chad Gluss told the Finance Committee the city will present three vehicle requisitions at the council meeting: a replacement pickup truck for the fire department, a new vehicle for the fire chief to replace a 2008 car, and a general-purpose city vehicle for official travel. "The total cost for the fire department pickup truck, including upfitting, is $72,000," Gluss said, and he added the purchase will be made through state-bid dealerships.
Council members discussed alternatives such as mileage reimbursement and controls for vehicle use. Councilman Garry Thompson said a shared city vehicle could be more convenient than mileage reimbursement, and Councilmember Jennifer Jansen and Finance Director Eileen Egan noted drivers' licenses and proof of insurance would be required prior to use. Gluss said the vehicle is intended for official city business and could be used by staff traveling to seminars or council travel when needed.
