Councilwoman Jacklyn Bartkowski read a written communication from resident Kelly Fairchild describing persistent yellow tap water at her Lindbergh address and expressing health and household concerns.
Fairchild wrote, "I am afraid to use our water for cooking, for drinking, and it's constantly on my mind when brushing my teeth or showering." She said a six-year-old hot-water tank was filled "almost to the top with orange goo sediment" removed from incoming water and that neighbors report similar issues. Bartkowski said she will confirm whether the neighborhood receives water from Berea or Rural Lorain County Water and follow up with the resident and Berea as appropriate.
Mayor Chad Gluss noted Berea upgraded its facilities in recent years; council asked staff to determine the water provider and report back so residents can be advised of next steps.
