Sheridan County commissioners on April 7 approved an updated Emergency Operations Plan intended to coordinate county departments, municipalities and partner agencies in preparing for, responding to and recovering from disasters. Emergency Management Coordinator Jesse Ludikhuize said the plan aligns with national frameworks and incorporates lessons learned and current procedures to maintain compliance with federal and state funding requirements.
The board also unanimously approved a mutual aid agreement with Big Horn County, Montana. Ludikhuize explained the pact allows counties to request or provide personnel, equipment and expertise during incidents that exceed local capacity; assistance is provided at no cost for up to 12 hours, with expenses negotiated afterward, and the agreement requires approval by each state's attorney general before it becomes effective.
