Board approves $116,165.65 Town Aid Road appropriation to replenish salt and fund road work

The Board approved a supplemental appropriation of $116,165.65 for the Town Aid Road Fund (Account #08-0330-43353) and corresponding appropriations for snow-and-ice removal materials. Town Manager Tom DiStasio said the funds will be used for road improvements and to replenish the salt shed after a winter of high usage. The motion carried 7-0-0 after a motion by Kathleen Johnson and second by Michael Szekeres.
Kathy Randall asked whether Avon ran out of salt last year; Tom said Avon had enough but that current supplies were low, which motivated the Public Works Director’s request to refill the stockpile. With the appropriation approved the town may proceed with purchases and project planning under the Town Aid Road program.
