Soil and Water staff report limited SSTS and soil-health grant funding; watershed plans advanced

Soil and Water Conservation District Administrative Manager Sara Gronfeld told commissioners there are two new SSTS permit applications, limited Low-Income Upgrade Grant funding, ongoing watershed planning for the Bois de Sioux——Mustinka and Upper Minnesota River plans, and that soil sampling is complete with a grant application submitted.
Sara Gronfeld, District Administrative Manager for the Soil and Water Conservation District, briefed the commission on program activity: two new SSTS permit applications have been filed and SSTS Low-Income Upgrade Grant funds are limited but still available.
Gronfeld reported progress on the Bois de Sioux——Mustinka and Upper Minnesota River comprehensive watershed plans and said spring fieldwork and soil sampling are underway or complete. She noted soil health grants remain limited for cover-crop and strip-till/no-till practices, while federal funding contracts are accepting new applications and a grant application has been submitted by the district.
