County Engineer Chad Gillespie told the Traverse County Commission that the Highway Department will advertise for bids on multiple bridge projects and a CSAH resurfacing segment. The projects include SAP 078-606-026 and SAP 078-599.058 — timber bridge replacements with precast concrete box culverts (three on CSAH 6 west of Dumont and one on Croke Township Road) — and SAP 078-609-022 (CSAH 9 south of Wheaton from CSAH 6 to State Hwy 27). The Board unanimously approved advertising for bids (motion by Commissioner Kayla Schmidt, second by Commissioner Mark Gail).
Gillespie also raised county park fee enforcement and recommended reviewing the County Park Ordinance for non-payment language and issuing a new payment envelope that would include a parking stub to help enforcement. The Board reached consensus to review the ordinance language and proceed with developing a new payment envelope. The Highway Department also presented a final-pay request to Joe Riley Construction for $7,507.49 for SAP 078-615-011, which the Board approved unanimously (motion by Gail, second by Nelson).
