Traverse County approves $2.35 million highway contract, accepts LRIP award notice

The Traverse County Commission on April 7 approved a $2,349,236.75 contract award for SAP 078-609-022 to Mark Sand and Gravel and authorized tied projects SAP 078-606-026 and SAP 078-599-058 to John Riley Construction, contingent on required MnDOT State Aid items.
Highway Maintenance Supervisor Brian Koch asked the Board to approve the final payment for CP 25-04 to Morris Seal Coat in the amount of $218.37; the Board approved the payment on a motion by Commissioner Kayla Schmidt, seconded by Commissioner Chad Metz. Koch also informed commissioners that Traverse County had been awarded $1,100,000 in Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) funds for projects on MCSAH 4 South and MCSAH 106 in Browns Valley for 2028. "Koch informed the Board of $1,100,000 in LRIP funds awarded to Traverse County for projects on MCSAH 4 South and MCSAH 106 in Browns Valley for 2028," the record shows.
The tied-project awards to John Riley Construction, totaling $991,263.00, were approved contingent upon the county receiving the required documentation from MnDOT State Aid. The Board also authorized county mowing of Monson Township for 2026. All motions were approved unanimously.
