County administration reported initial cost estimates for the new animal shelter at $2,314,314 and said the county is advertising for bids.
Staff cautioned that the estimate is higher than the current CIP allocation and said that if bids return close to the estimate, the board will need to assess alternatives to close the gap between the bid results and the budget. “The initial cost estimates are $2,314,314 for the animal shelter project…we hope to get bids back, and hopefully, we'll be under this number and closer to what we budgeted,” the staff member said.
The board was asked to be prepared to consider bid results and options to align the project with available funding once procurement completes and bids are returned.
