For Route 656 (South Amelia Avenue) she said the traffic-engineering report recommends posting a 45 mph limit between Route 360 and Whitaker Road pending law-enforcement concurrence.
On the Amelia County sidewalk project staff said the contract’s fixed completion date is January 2026 but the contractor is running ahead of schedule and the county’s construction engineer expects work to be finished by late November or early December. Staff also explained crosswalk installation at Church Street would require Americans with Disabilities Act–compliant curb ramps before striping could occur. Operations acknowledged some recent resurfacing had occurred without immediate striping due to separate contracts and committed to improved coordination in 2026.
