Residents and businesses urge county to oppose WYDOT concrete center median on Coffeen–Brundage
Summary
Residents, business owners and a local bank asked the Sheridan County Commission to press WYDOT to pause installation of concrete center medians on Coffeen and Brundage, citing an 87.3% opposition poll result, a petition with roughly 450 signatures, and concerns about business access, emergency response and snow removal.

Carla Kaylee, a Sheridan County resident and business owner, told the commission she and other stakeholders oppose WYDOT’s proposal to install concrete center median barriers along Coffeen and Brundage and asked the county to press WYDOT to suspend action until economic and environmental studies and broader public input are complete. "I urge you to support the local businesses and property owners and residents of Sheridan County in our efforts to oppose the installation of concrete center median barriers down Coffeen and Brundage," the resident said.
Dan Davidson, a retired local business owner, and Dylan Krause, president of Security State Bank, echoed the call for more study and collaboration. Krause said WYDOT had revised the proposal and added some left-turn cuts but said not all businesses were accommodated, predicting increased stacking at the light, parking spillover into private lots and potential complications for emergency access and snow removal. He asked the commission to help convene a stakeholder working group including WYDOT, city and county representatives, and affected business and property owners.
The speakers cited local outreach and a petition with about 450 signatures submitted to WYDOT; one speaker referenced an opinion poll reported at 87.3% opposition, and asked the board to consider a special meeting to address the corridor project. No formal county action on the proposal was taken at the meeting; the comments were delivered during the public comment period.
