Mayor Tracy Rodes reported at the Dec. 4 meeting that the TWSA has documented $175,000 in physical damages from Hurricane Helene. Rodes said the insurance deductible is $51,000 and insurance will cover an additional $36,000; the board signed an agreement with the North Carolina Emergency Management (NCEM) that will allow TWSA to request relief funding through NCEM.
Rodes also said that on Nov. 19 Jay Sharpe of Sharpe & Patel gave a virtual presentation of TWSA's annual audit, which was a clean audit without significant findings. The mayor relayed details of regional emergency-response meetings she attended and named local and state representatives who participated.
