Mary Richthammer read Articles 8 through 12, which request modest appropriations to local nonprofits and community services: $973 to VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region, $500 to the Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging (SWCOA), $375 to RSVP & Volunteer Center, $300 to support the Bird's Eye View newsletter, and $150 to the Vermont Farmers Food Center.
Residents offered personal testimony about the value of these services. Bob Toppin said VNA & Hospice "provided invaluable support to him for four months when his wife was ill; he could not have managed without them." Sara Meling described the SWCOA as a valuable resource and noted the Farmers Food Center's programs; she said the $150 request was conservative and affordable for a community the town's size. Benjamin Kerstetter raised a procedural objection, saying he did not feel Articles 7–12 should be included in the warrant for voters to consider; Nathan Hewitt replied that meeting notices were posted in the Town Report and in several locations, though a sign outside the town hall had not been posted for the informational meeting.
These articles will be decided by voters at the upcoming town vote.
