Gee contrasted that small purchase with full-size apparatus costs in the region, noting that West Rutland recently paid about $385,000 for a new truck. Meeting discussion also touched on the department's search for a parcel for a future building; Dan Perry said the department has met with Vermont State Fire and Safety and found requirements "more than anticipated."
The warrant article would add to the reserve fund to help avoid a single-year budget shock when a major apparatus purchase becomes necessary.
