Separately, the board adopted a proclamation recognizing April 23 as National Drug Endangered Children's Awareness Day. The proclamation and staff materials cited local non-fatal overdose emergency-room visits declining from 101 in 2018 to 80 in 2024 (ESSENCE database, 2025) as context for continued prevention and multi-disciplinary response efforts. Health Department Director Lynnette Redington presented the proclamation to the board and the motion to adopt passed unanimously.
Both proclamations were adopted by unanimous votes recorded in the meeting minutes; the events are scheduled to be held and organized by local partners listed in the agenda packet.
