Haywood County commissioners reappointed Judy Hickman to an additional four‑year term as the county's tax collector and administered the oath of office during the Aug. 18 meeting.
County staff noted statutory requirements for appointing the tax collector/assessor at required intervals. After the reappointment, Hickman took the oath of office before the board. The commission also reappointed Ryan Newell to a second term on the Recreation Advisory Board following the Parks and Recreation Board's recommendation. The board approved the appointment of Noah Taylor and Alex Mumbie to the Greenway Advisory Council and reappointed Kathy Odevote and Melissa Marshall to represent hiking and Lake Junaluska Assembly interests respectively.
All appointments and reappointments on the consent or appointment portions passed by unanimous voice vote.
