Deputy county manager Chris Boyd told commissioners the lot is just under 0.5 acre, sits adjacent to the river within the floodplain but outside the floodway, and already has a well and septic system. Boyd said the county envisions using the site for temporary or mobile flood activities and that the current owner had already demolished a house on the parcel, reducing demolition costs.
The board moved and approved the purchase by unanimous voice vote. Staff said the parcel was identified as a suitable location by county planning staff and that the purchase is intended to support mitigation and response efforts tied to recent storm impacts.
