County signals no objection to NCDOT road abandonment needed for development

County attorney Frank Quinn explained the process: DOT begins the closure, but the county's role is to advise whether public access will be lost. Quinn said the developer "bought all of the road of the property that's at the end of the road," and staff showed aerials indicating businesses and private entrances will continue to have DOT‑maintained access at the shortened terminus. Commissioners asked whether any residences would be affected; staff responded no.
The board moved and approved the resolution by unanimous voice vote. The action signals to NCDOT that the county does not object to the abandonment request; subsequent public‑private road conversion and maintenance will follow the developer and town processes.
