Ellen Pitt spoke during public comment to correct a recent news story she said implied local officials had declined support for a cam‑bracelet monitoring program. Pitt told the board the reporting was "kind of misleading," said the project has had support from local officials and defense attorneys, and that project organizers had sought funding sources that would not fall to taxpayers.
Pitt also told commissioners, "Pretrial cam bracelets have been the law since 2012 and you all well know it because I've been up here yelling for 10 years," adding that organizers had met with local officials and were seeking creative, non‑taxpayer funding. She asked the board to note that neither she nor the bracelet provider were interviewed for the published article.
