911/OEM reports towers operational; employee Billy Gilbert moved to full-time

Robert Daman of the Randolph County 911/OEM center updated the commission Dec. 5 that towers are up and running, there have been no carbon-monoxide readings at Elkins Middle School and EPA is expected to remove a monitoring system soon. Daman said the 911 center has applied for grants and filed an insurance claim for a power surge in October, and reported that roof leaks at the 911 Center have been fixed.
Daman also recommended changing the employment status of Billy Gilbert from part time to full time so he may receive county benefits; Commissioner Kesling moved to approve the status change effective Dec. 5, 2024, with wages remaining the same, and the commission voted unanimously to approve it. "Mr. Billy Gilbert is doing really good at the 911 Center," Daman said in support of the change.
The commission's personnel action is effective Dec. 5 and the change will be reflected in payroll and benefits administration.
