Randolph County backs CityNet broadband BEAD application

Melissa O'Brien, CityNet's external affairs manager, noted the federal BEAD funding will be allocated through the state program and asked only for a nonfinancial letter of support (the application was due Oct. 24). A signed county letter in the record, from Commission President Cris Siler, states: "On behalf of Randolph County, I am writing to express our strong support for Citynet's application to the West Virginia Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (WVBEAD) program." The letter cites benefits to education, telemedicine and economic development and affirms the county's commitment to digital equity.
The Commission did not commit county funds; it approved only the letter of support for CityNet's application to the state BEAD program.
