Finance Department staff told the Vernon County Finance Committee that several near-term federal funding reductions are expected to affect local programs. Cassie Hanan presented the budget vs. actual report and said the health department appears to be losing "about $60,000 in unused covid funds, and about $4,000 from the car seat program," and warned of reduced federal cybersecurity support.
Hanan also briefed the committee that the county audit is scheduled for the week of April 21 and that the Vernon Manor audit is almost complete; staff said they are scheduling long-range planning sessions to address projected shortfalls and potential service impacts. The committee did not take an immediate funding action during the meeting.
