Randolph County schedules certification for Nov. 21 after canvass; declaration triggers recount window

Following its canvass of absentee and provisional ballots and the hand count of Precinct 165, the Randolph County Commission voted to declare the Nov. 5 General Election results at 1:56 p.m. on Nov. 12. County Clerk Brenda Wiseman told commissioners that declaration begins the 48-hour period during which a recount may be requested; the county will reconvene to certify results after neighboring counties finish canvassing.
The commission recessed Nov. 12 to allow the recount window to run and reconvened Nov. 21, when Commissioner Kesling moved to certify the Nov. 5, 2024 General Election results "as submitted," and the motion passed unanimously. The clerk attested to the certification at that meeting.
