Randolph County approves sheriff's hires for tax office and court security

The Randolph County Commission approved multiple personnel actions requested by Sheriff Robert R. Elbon Jr. on Nov. 21. The commission approved the hiring of Carlee S. Webley as a full-time benefited Deputy Treasurer in the Tax Office at a starting salary of $45,000 per year ($23.08 per hour) with a 90-day probationary period and a requested start date of Dec. 2, 2024; the vote recorded Commissioner See and Commissioner Siler in favor and Commissioner Kesling abstaining.
The commission also approved two new full-time benefited probationary court security officers. Sheriff Elbon asked to hire Case Cunningham with a beginning probationary salary of $28,454.40 per year ($13.68 per hour), rising to $29,952.00 per year ($14.40 per hour) after a successful 90-day probationary period; the commission recorded two yes votes and one abstention and agreed Cunningham could begin Dec. 2. The commission unanimously approved hiring Kenneth Hamrick under the same salary schedule with a Dec. 2 start date. Sheriff Elbon said background investigations for all candidates were completed and successfully passed.
