The Randolph County Commission on Sept. 19 approved a ground lease with the Airport Authority to site a tower at the 911 Center, agreeing to $275 per month ($3,300 per year). Prosecuting Attorney Michael Parker reviewed the lease and Commissioner Chris See moved to approve it; the motion passed unanimously.
Lieutenant Talkington reported the Sheriff's Office can obtain newer Axon body cameras mid‑contract but will need a new docking system and possibly a GST upgrade; he said the new cameras "will show more area in the frame," that the shut‑off switch was changed and that battery life is about two years. 911/OEM Director Michael Miller said a concrete pad is required before raising the tower and presented invoices from Premier Construction Group, LLC; after finding some fees already paid, the commission tabled the disbursement until outstanding amounts are confirmed.
The commission also ratified signatures to accept a $30,000 PRO grant for school resource officers and approved other routine communications and equipment matters for public‑safety operations.
