Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney Michael W. Parker told commissioners that, following prior budget approval for a second judge, his office received a commitment from Dennis Kittle to serve as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney four days per week in Randolph County and part time in Barbour County. Parker said Kittle has eight years of experience and that a background check returned no issues.
Commissioner David Kesling moved to approve hiring Kittle at a starting salary of $67,500 with full county benefits and a start date of Sept. 11, 2024; the Commission voted unanimously to approve the appointment. A follow-up administrative step—onboarding paperwork at the County Clerk's office—was described in a Sept. 6 letter from Parker to Clerk Kathy Weese.
