Randolph County approves $5,000 sponsorship for YMCA 'September to Remember' concert

The Randolph County Commission on Sept. 19 approved a $5,000 sponsorship to the Elkins‑Randolph County YMCA to support the "September to Remember" free community concert scheduled for Sept. 20 at the Citizens Bank of West Virginia Amphitheatre.
Sid Gillispie, executive director of the YMCA, told the commission the festival is part of Davis & Elkins College Family Weekend and that "last year they had around 650 people attend." Commissioner David Kesling moved to award the $5,000 from Hotel/Motel Tax funds; the motion passed unanimously.
The commission approved the payment during its regular session at the James F. Cain Court House Annex. County staff will process the funds from the Hotel/Motel Tax allocation for community events.
