Commission previews volunteer replanting, tree donations at Dracaena Park

Parks staff (Nancy) briefed the commission on fall volunteer projects at Dracaena Park, saying several families have donated trees and the project will focus on native species and smaller plantings around donated trees.
"At our October meeting, I will give you a full description of what the volunteer effort looks like," Nancy said, noting the planting work will be the kickoff of a broader reforestation campaign and that the sites are relatively small (staff estimate: likely fewer than 50 plants per site).
Commissioners asked whether volunteers would be limited to park commissioners or open to the public. Nancy said it will be a combination of volunteers from the community and park commissioners and that public-works will prepare sites in advance. Questions about release/waiver forms and volunteer procedures were raised; Nancy said she would get back to the commission with details on volunteer forms and administrative requirements.
The commission did not take action; staff will return with species lists, a sign-up approach and a timeline at the October meeting.
