The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors closed its public hearing on the FY 2025–26 recommended and supplemental budget and adopted final budget resolutions. Lisa Howe of the Administrative Office told the Board the governmental funds budget totals approximately $958,000,000 with a general fund operating budget of $813,000,000 and total staffing of 2,814.25 positions. She said unrestricted reserves (contingencies) remain at 23.63% and general fund contingencies at about $35.5 million. “At this point, the governmental funds budget totals $958,000,000, with a general fund budget of $813,000,000,” Howe told the Board.
During post‑hearing action the Board directed several allocations: $1,500,000 for one‑year transitional nonprofit funding (split $750,000 general fund contingency / $750,000 tax reduction reserve), $2,500,000 earmarked for one‑time homeless services contingent on city participation, and an amendment to add an Assistant County Administrative Officer position ($413,985 funded from contingencies). Supervisor Paulding successfully moved a technical amendment to place $250,000 earmarked for the Jacqueti Road bridge repair into Public Works’ operating budget to allow flexible use for a potential temporary bridge. The motion to adopt the budget and position allocation list then passed on a recorded vote across the Board.
