Traverse County approves sheriff's signers, labor agreement amendment and 2026 fee schedule

Sheriff Trevor Wright presented several items to the board. Commissioners unanimously adopted Resolution No. 26-04, which designates Trevor Wright, Janessa Miller and Blayne Olson as authorized signers on Traverse County Sheriff's Office accounts at Star Bank and removes Brenda Bartz from signatory status. The resolution instructs the bank to rely on the board's action to update account authorizations.
Wright also brought the 2026 fee schedule forward for approval; the board approved the schedule 4-1 with Commissioner Kayla Schmidt opposed. The board unanimously accepted a $300 anonymous donation for the Sheriff's Office and approved a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Law Enforcement Labor Services (LELS) to credit prior county service toward vacation accrual, amended to apply only if the employee leaves county employment in good standing. Wright said the department will fund a 2026 taser contract costing $5,298 from the capital outlay budget and include the expense in the 2027 proposed budget.
