Traverse County engineers outline 94 bridge inspections for 2026; commissioners authorize surplus vehicle changes

County Engineer Chad Gillespie updated commissioners that 94 bridge inspections, including box culverts and large reinforced concrete pipe culverts, are scheduled for 2026 and that State Aid equalization for engineering work is projected at $639,122.00. Gillespie also said most equipment budgeted for 2026 has been ordered; the sign truck remained to be ordered.
The board discussed a 2007 Ford F350 van that Social Services no longer needs. Commissioner Mark Gail moved to sell the county's 2004 Dodge Durango at the next auction and to retain the 2007 van for use by the Sheriff's Office; Commissioner Chad Metz seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
