Olson reappointed chair as Traverse County commissioners split on 2026 leadership

The motion passed 4-1, with Schmidt opposed.
The board then approved the meeting agenda unanimously with added items including a Memorandum of Agreement with Law Enforcement Labor Services (LELS) and a resolution designating authorized signers for the Sheriff's Office accounts at Star Bank. The board also unanimously approved the Dec. 16 and Dec. 31, 2025 meeting minutes. The leadership reappointment was recorded as the formal organization action for 2026.
