After unauthorized vehicle activity, Makanda places barricades near Village Hall and re‑installs CN gate

Village leadership told the board that over the weekend of Nov. 16 unauthorized vehicle traffic was creating ruts on newly purchased property leading from Village Hall to the CN Communications Tower. In response, the village placed concrete barricades at the culvert across from Village Hall on Nov. 20 and reinstalled the CN gate at the communications tower.
President Tina Shingleton said she contacted CN to inform the company that the village had reinstalled the gate because unauthorized traffic was making ruts and that CN could decide whether to leave the gate in place. Trustee Dalton also reported dumped tires on South Poplar Camp Road and the president said the Street and Road crew would be notified to remove them.
