President Tina Shingleton and Clerk Leslie Yambert reported a fall playground and park inspection on Sept. 25 with Jim Closson from the Illinois Municipal League Risk Management Association. Closson’s loss‑control letter, received Oct. 1, listed recommendations and observations for the village to consider.
The inspection letter said playground equipment and mulch were in good condition but recommended the Pavilion stage be added to the village’s property and liability coverage. The letter also noted "the deteriorated condition of both the wooden bleachers and metal bleachers" and advised the village to address that deterioration; replacing the bleachers was discussed as an option by the board.
The board did not adopt a specific replacement plan or funding source at the meeting; trustees discussed potential options and requested follow up.
