Apple Creek Golf Club owners say they bought Stone Creek course; village approves liquor license pending requirements

Denny Kortkamp, owner of Apple Creek Golf Club, told the Village of Makanda Board of Trustees that he purchased the Stone Creek Golf Course and changed the name to Apple Creek Golf Club and that the owners are revitalizing the clubhouse and building new greens.
Kortkamp said they hope to have the restaurant open by the end of March 2025 and that Apple Creek Golf Club will remain a private facility. Daniel Kaufman Wagner of Apple Creek Golf Club also attended the meeting during the citizen’s hearing.
Separately under new business the board considered an application for a liquor license for Apple Creek Golf Club. President Tina Shingleton said paperwork and the license fee were received and that a background check was in process. Trustee Wolff moved to approve the liquor license once all requirements have been met; Trustee Allen seconded. The motion carried by voice vote with all members present at roll call voting yes.
The board’s approval is conditioned on completion of background checks and any other requirements specified by the village clerk’s office; the license will become effective only after those steps are confirmed.
