Tompkins County proclaims Indigenous Peoples Day and recognizes student sticker winners

The Tompkins County Legislature began its Oct. 7 session with several ceremonial items. Veronica Pillar read a proclamation recognizing Indigenous Peoples Day on Oct. 13, 2025, acknowledging the ancestral lands of the Guyacone/Cayuga people and affirming the county’s commitment to equity and inclusion.
The board also recognized student winners of two Board of Elections sticker design contests: Seve Stiglitz (future voter sticker) and Olivia Castleberry (I Voted sticker). Officials presented printed stickers and invited the students on stage for photos and brief remarks.
