The West Hollywood Station gave its monthly report for June, recording 1,780 calls for service, 80 emergency responses, 52 felony arrests, 194 misdemeanor arrests and 160 Part 1 crimes for the month.
Station representatives said the West district accounted for 62% of Part 1 crime incidents, noted 27 pickpocket thefts in June, and described several recent traffic collisions involving pedestrians, bicyclists and scooters that remain under investigation. The station said it will run a bicycle, scooter and pedestrian safety operation next month that will mix on-street enforcement with education, including in-person, motorcycle and patrol-vehicle contacts.
Commissioners asked for hate-crime counts to be added to monthly reporting and discussed a virtual-deputy online option for capturing hate-incident reports; station staff said a detective is designated as the station's hate-crime coordinator and that SORTS and virtual-deputy models are under consideration for improved reporting.
