City advances Plummer Park Phase 2; commission to appoint liaison for working group

Rick Abramson, the city's architect, presented Phase 2 of the Plummer Park comprehensive improvement plan, explaining that Phase 1 community outreach is complete and results are posted on the city's Engage WeHo platform.
Abramson described Phase 2 as focusing on "where and how," translating ideas into implementable design options with three general impact scenarios: low-impact near-term improvements (lighting, signage, planting), medium-impact changes that may require staging and partial closures, and high-impact reconfiguration for the park's long-term future. He said a city-manager-appointed working group will begin meeting mid-September on Tuesday evenings and likely run about 4-5 months. Abramson encouraged commissions to appoint voluntary liaisons to attend working-group meetings and bring back considerations to their home bodies.
In public comment, Stephanie Harker, a longtime local organizer, praised the outreach and the consultant SWA for extensive community input and thanked Abramson and council members for advancing the plan. Several commissioners volunteered as liaisons and staff signaled the meetings will be open to the public and will reserve time for liaison reports.
