The board approved the purchase of a certified 2026 Honda Odyssey EX‑L minivan from Mueller Honda of Gurnee for $41,500 to support special‑education transportation. Administration told the board the district expects to restore at least one outsourced special‑education route with the vehicle and that returning a route will save roughly $48,000 per year compared with contracting the route out.
"It's $48,000 per route that we bring back," the transportation presenter said when asked about cost savings, and staff confirmed the district has a driver available and does not anticipate hiring additional staff for that route. The motion to approve the purchase passed by roll call.
