Staff explained the purchase will allow the city to host maps, update street and utility layers, and provide mobile access to public-works staff. "It's $4,725 for the year," a staff member said, adding the application can later be expanded to more devices or converted to a multi-year contract. Council members asked whether AutoCAD conversion or additional GIS services would be separate costs; staff said those are optional extras.
Councilor S2 moved to authorize the mayor to enter the one-year agreement; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. Staff said rollout will begin as soon as the mayor signs the contract and that public-works staff (Lorenzo and Joe) will be initial mobile users while deployment expands.
