Council members and community members requested an explanation of recent Round Valley Unified School District lockdowns and the protocol for notifying the community. Lt. Lorenzo reported the lockdown "was a miscommunication" and said Mendocino County Sheriff's Office did not believe there was a credible threat; Superintendent Davis said "the decision is the school’s whether to shut down."
Members asked about communications between MCSO and Tribal Police, and Jordan Walstrom described the Tribal Police role as supporting local calls and listening to MCSO radio. Marylou Mileck and other members said no Nixle alert was issued and asked law enforcement to explain notification protocols; the item was discussed and will be brought forward for further clarification but no formal action was taken at this meeting.
