Council presses Wright County on ADA-compliant ramps after crosswalk installation

A councilor expressed frustration that the county painted the crosswalk but did not make the ramps compliant. “I kinda wish we would have knew about this early summer because it would have probably been done before they moved to court,” Public Works said, noting that the city owns the sidewalk but the roadway is county jurisdiction. Councilors debated whether to ask the county to absorb upgrades or to pursue a design and cost‑share; council agreed to consult Commissioner Moya and delay work until that conversation occurs.
Staff also said pole upgrades could cost roughly $8,000 per location but that Wright County offered to cost-share the pole upgrade; council directed staff to pause formal design work until county discussions occur.
