Public Works Director Danny explained the city needs to integrate the Preserve lift station — now surrounded by residential development — into the SCADA automated alarm and callout system to ensure timely response when alarms occur.
He told council the city has funds available and asked for authorization to spend $23,102 to add the station to the SCADA system, using cellular service rather than installing a nearby antenna. “I think it would be smart for the Council to approve the amount of $23,102 to get this hooked into our SCADA system,” Danny said. A councilor moved and seconded the item; the council approved the expenditure on a recorded 5–0 vote.
The staff noted the cellular option may incur a modest monthly fee, but that it avoids erecting an 80‑foot tower and the costs of antenna installation.
