Kevin, a representative of the Montrose Fire Department, told the council the department included its September activity report in the packet and had no major call-volume changes to report.
He asked for authorization to apply for the 2025 DNR Volunteer Fire Assistance grant, describing it as a 50/50 program with awards up to $5,000 and a local match of $2,500 if awarded. “Grant is up to $5,000 so it'd be a $2,500 split between us and the state if awarded,” Kevin said. Councilor [Council member (Speaker 6)] moved to authorize the application; the motion passed on a recorded 5–0 vote.
The department also asked the council to accept the resignation of probationary firefighter Christopher Fouch, effective Sept. 30, 2025; the council voted to accept the resignation. The department then presented the hiring of firefighter Lindsay Wandersi, effective Sept. 22, 2025, which the council approved. Kevin noted the appointment of Kelly Stoll as assistant fire chief for 2026–2027 as an informational item.
The council recorded unanimous support for the grant authorization and the personnel actions. No further discussion or contingency was recorded.
