Facilities staff told the board that a recent Westmore Elementary addition required an unanticipated design change when delivered structural beams were not insulated, raising moisture and condensation concerns. JEO and GAO proposed a revised enclosed-roof design; the change order presented for approval was $54,532.76 (approximately 1.40% of the initial approved amount). A motion to approve the change order was made and approved by voice vote.
Later in reports, staff provided additional detail: an earlier Westmore change order totaled $10,787.67 (deducts and additions due to preexisting conditions), bringing total Westmore change orders to $102,416.64 (2.63% of the initial project). For the auditorium renovation, staff said final pricing produced a deductive change order of $362,686.72, which reduced the initial contract and set a new contract baseline of $625,625.84 for future percent calculations.
