"It would provide for more extensive notifications along the edges of the properties by by way of 4 by 8 signs," Commissioner Webb told the court, arguing that current processes sometimes leave neighbors unaware until after hearings occur. He said the resolution would also ask that setback calculations be measured from property or fence lines—proposing a 440-yard standard from boundary lines rather than from the existing reference points such as residences or places of worship.
Commissioners said the change would give property owners more timely notice about nearby industrial operations and help preserve future development options; the motion carried on a voice vote.
