Commissioners approve transfer of Sequential Intercept model grant to Hill Country MHDD

County staff explained that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) asked for administrative changes that made county administration of the Sequential Intercept model implementation grant impractical. The presenter said the two grant-funded positions would be employees of Hill Country MHDD after the transfer and that the program would continue to operate in the county jail, serving inmates and supporting competency and diversion services.
The court voted to approve the transfer to Hill Country MHDD and staff said they would follow up with required documentation and notifications. Commissioners noted the county’s recent interlocal agreement with Hill Country for jail-based competency restoration and said the existing relationship supported the transfer.
