The Comal County Commissioners Court accepted a $3,500 check from Canyon Lake Girls Softball to pay for engineering plans to relocate a batting-cage structure at Hidden Valley Sports Park that staff said was built inside a PEC easement.
"This is a project that I wanted to, review just a little history and give some context," county staff member Boyd told the court, explaining staff met with Nevins Engineering and received a $3,500 proposal to produce plans and specifications. Boyd said the next steps are to issue a purchase order to Evans Engineering, have Girls Softball submit a formal lease-modification request, pursue Corps of Engineers approval for the new location, solicit relocation proposals, and have Girls Softball pay for whatever relocation method is chosen.
The court approved accepting the donation by motion; Commissioner Crownover moved approval and Commissioner Leacock seconded, and the motion carried on a voice vote. County staff emphasized the donation covers plan development only; the softball association is responsible for relocation costs and for obtaining Corps approval under the lease and easement constraints.
