Comal County amends jail medical contract to add forensic blood draws and witness availability

Major (jail medical) told commissioners the amendment was intended to clarify services in the existing inmate medical, pharmacy, mental health, and psychiatric services contract for the Comal County Jail and to explicitly include forensic blood draws.
"I reached out to the DA Majel and turnkey. They agreed on the language as to change it and amend it, indicating that they would conduct blood draws and that their personnel would be available for testifying if need be," the Major said. The court approved the amendment and authorized the director of purchasing to sign the contract change.
No additional contract dollar amounts or staffing changes were discussed on the record. Commissioners approved the amendment by voice vote.
