Board approves single JAG career specialist at Scottsbluff High amid funding uncertainty

Speaker 16 explained that the district had approved the partnership in December but JAG requested the BMS position be deferred until federal or state funding could be secured. The board moved (Merrigan) and seconded (Schwartz) an amendment to rescind the two-position request and approve a single full-time JAG career specialist at Scottsbluff High School for the 2025–26 school year; the motion passed on voice vote.
Board members said they supported the high-school placement with the understanding the middle-school role could return if external funding appears. The superintendent/staff will continue recruitment for the SHS career specialist role and monitor funding developments.
