The Scottsbluff Public Schools Board voted May 12 to approve a batch of district expenditures totaling $1,366,025.82. Chairperson read the list of vendors and amounts before the board voted to approve the payment package.
In a separate motion the board approved a payment to the listed law firm (named in the agenda as Douglas, Kelly, Austic, Snyder, Ocean, and Vogel) in the amount read by the chair. During discussion one board member stated, "All abstaining because of a conflict of interest," and the board proceeded to record votes for that item as presented. The chair had opened the vote after motions were made and seconded.
The motions were made on the floor as recorded by the chair (motion by Snyder and others as noted in the meeting record) and passed by roll-call votes. No additional conditions or follow-up reporting requirements for these expenditure approvals were stated during the discussion.
